But while Nick Lupi is happy to say that every time the members of Horrorshow, Spit Syndicate, Joyride & Jackie Onassis get together to form One Day, things do feel a bit super, this doesn't make them a "super group".
"It might be an easy tag for the media to put on a group, when you have members of four other groups coming together, but for us it is a lot more natural than just a label," Lupi, of Spit Syndicate, told X-static recently.
"We're all old friends and we've been making music together since we've left high school, so it is more really a bunch of friends making music together than a 'super group' in our eyes.
"It does have its challenges, and making a record with three people is tough enough, but when you have seven, that is obviously multiplied.
"But we are all friends and there is that mutual respect there that we can arrive at a consensus."
The album that he speaks of is the group's debut Mainline, which Lupi says is the strongest work that each member has been involved with.
"There was a real feeling of safety in numbers in terms of taking a few more risks with this record and that is not something we planned, but that's how it happened," he said.
"While you can hear the other influences of each individual group, it is its own beast as well.
"We'd like to think it stands out on its own. Some songs were created for this album, some were existing songs that didn't have a home that we reimagined and made sound new and fresh, and there is this unique dynamic we found between us."
One Day will perform in Hobart on Saturday night at the Waratah Hotel. "It is unlike any show we have done before," Lupi said.
