A 52-year-old man is in the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition after he was allegedly assaulted at a house in Sandy Bay last night.

Detective Acting Inspector Craig Joel said the man was allegedly assaulted at a home in Queen Street between 5pm and 7.30pm.
“Detectives and forensic personnel, including scientists from Forensic Science Service Tasmania, are examining the scene and speaking to witnesses to determine what happened at the house,” Detective Acting Inspector Joel said.
Police say that the alleged assault occured following a dispute between two men, who were known to each other.
A 61-year-old man is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
Police have conducted door knocks in the area, but are encouraging anyone who may have seen or heard a disturbance in Queen Street between 5pm and 7.30pm last night to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
