Deloraine Red Cross’s Lexie Young said a party would be held at the town’s Uniting Church hall on Monday September 1, to celebrate the milestone.
‘‘The social afternoon includes entertainment and memorabilia, with Phyl Ockerby as guest speaker and a birthday cake,’’ Mrs Young said.
‘‘An open invite is extended to all who collected for Red Cross Calling or have been a blood donor when the blood bank visited the RSL club rooms and still donate at Launceston.’’
In a letter to The Examiner, Red Cross executive chairman Russell Penman said the organisation was thankful for its selfless volunteers.
‘So this month as we reflect on the last 100 years, we look to the next 100,’’ Mr Penman said.
‘‘We pass the baton on to the next generation of Australians to carry on the legacy of the millions of selfless individuals who together demonstrate that the power of humanity can, and does, change people’s lives for the better.’’
