QUALITY choir performances again grace Deloraine next month as choral groups gather from Meander Valley and beyond.
Choir festival organiser James Sayer said the non-denomination event was held to celebrate Christianity in the community.
‘‘Last year was really successful, we managed to fill all the seats up in the Deloraine Community Complex,’’ Mr Sayer said.
‘‘There’s a bit of a crowd that comes, made up of our members a little bit, but also the Meander Valley community.
‘‘It’s quality groups that come and sing as well, people are generally pretty happy to be part of it.’’
Performing groups will include Meander Valley Choir, Deloraine Gospel Chapel, Meander Men’s Choir, Deloraine City Singers and three Latter Day Saints choirs.
Mr Sayer said renowned Meander Valley singer Georgina Harvey would open the night with When the Saints Come Marching In.
‘‘She’s not a religious person, and a lot of groups aren’t, but they’re still doing religious songs,’’ Mr Sayer said.
‘‘We’ll also have Sing Australia, Right on Que, Diminished 5th and In the Groove from Devonport.’’
He said entry to the night was by gold coin donation, and funds raised will be redistributed to the Meander Valley community.
