The Blues would love to finish off with a victory especially after an impressive performance last week when they pushed Western Storm for three quarters before being overrun in the final quarter.
"It's always disappointing to not be playing finals and we're disappointed from that aspect about this season but it's certainly been a positive year in terms of the boys who have come through and made their senior debuts," Stephens said.
"They've shown they can play at the level, and now it is a matter of developing them further so they can bring that consistency and become really good players at TSL level.
"All in all it hasn't been too bad a year - certainly very challenging with injuries that have struck us when we didn't want, but a positive year for the club without getting the wins we wanted to get."
Stephens will be hoping his players can repeat their effort from last week but said they needed to learn to capitalise on opportunities in front of goals against the top sides.
"We were really good for three quarters and the effort from the boys was outstanding and that's what I require from them week in and out and that was the message I gave them after the game," he said.
"We have to learn to take the opportunities and get rewarded for effort which is something we didn't do at the weekend. We paid the price in the final quarter when they ran away with it." Jake Rice will miss today's game with a hamstring injury and Cameron Downie is unavailable.
Gary Shipton will make a return in his farewell game before retirement and Brayden Pitcher should earn a promotion after a good performance in the colts' last week.
Stephens has signed on as coach for next season and said he was keen to continue working with the young group of players.
"We will look at attracting some new faces and have a look about to see who is available," he said.
"But we won't be going ridiculously crazy on the recruiting front.
"Maybe we'll look to add one or two to our squad to put us in a good position going forward.
"We'd like to add to our midfield and possibly another key back. At this stage everyone has signed on for 2015."
