I refer to the recent story which provided information on telephone and communication costs of over $60k racked up by a former State Senior Health Executive, during an overseas trip in 2012 and simply say... unbelievable.

Yes, most reasonable people would agree that there is a need for Senior Public Servants to keep abreast of issues while away but, may I suggest that this could have been avoided with the use of simpler/more effectve/cost saving communication like a laptop.
The financial result to the Tasmanian Health budget attributed to this arrogant behavior, is not only unacceptable but displays laziness and disrespect for the community and taxpayers in general.
Senior public servants within the Health System must also bear some criticism and blame for the lack of responsible management and basic control measures deemed necessary in the "real world".
In general the community seems to support additional funding for Health throughout Tasmania, but have an expectation for the system to be managed in a fair to all way.
