It is a scam that has been happening for several years.
She received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, who then informed her that they had detected that her computer was filled with viruses and that they could fix it for her right then and there if she paid a fee of $90.
She unwittingly agreed, so they managed to go in and they locked her out of her computer until she gave them her card details, then when that went through, they unlocked her computer and it was apparently all fixed.
She felt funny about it and called me and when I asked if she had agreed and she said she had, I immediately knew that there was going to be a problem.
I checked her bank account and sure enough they had taken every cent from her.
