However, yesterday that thought became a reality for Punchbowl Primary School pupils Molly and Henry Woolcock, who nominated teachers Jacky Bennett and Loretta Kenny for an ‘‘ice bucket challenge’’.
The concept sees people dare each other to tip a bucket of ice water over their own head to raise awareness for various diseases.
If the nominated person refuses, they are asked to donate $100 to a particular charity of the nominator’s choosing.
The concept has gone global on social media, with a number of celebrities filming their own videos of the challenge.
Twelve-year-old Molly Woolcock said her ice bucket challenge was to raise awareness for motor neurone disease.
‘‘This is for my aunty who is battling motor neurone disease,’’ she said.
‘‘We just thought it would be a great way to raise awareness and encourage people to donate.’’
Year 5 and 6 teacher Ms Bennett said she was nervous before undertaking the challenge in front of the entire school yesterday.
However, she admitted she would do anything to help raise awareness.
‘‘It’s such a good cause and the students are obviously really passionate about it,’’ she said.
