AS SOON as the buzz saw guitar riff of Wedding Day started reverberating around the cavernous Wrest Point Showroom, Courtney Love set about delivering a night to remember.
The 50-year-old and her backing band ploughed through a 20-odd song set of her signature grungy rock'n'roll.
Spending her daughter Frances Bean Cobain's 22nd birthday playing in Hobart, Love managed to dedicate Skinny Little Bitch to her, despite the physical distance between them.
With crowd banter ranging from compliments on the looks of the fans in the front row to "Do you want to know my Beyonce and Jay Z story?", Love had the audience laughing with her, screaming at her and rocking with her.
Despite an airing of hits, Miss World, Malibu and Celebrity Skin, it's hard to go past Violet as the highlight of the set.
Love introduced the song with: "I once went to Chicago and dated Billy Corgan for like 10 seconds, and he wrote a bunch of songs about me . . . but this is the only one I wrote about him".
She then belted out the vocals with the gusto that would put many younger vocalists to shame.
