The forum will start at 4.40pm and be addressed by staff from the Local Government Office and the Electoral Office.
Organisation president Tom Teniswood said that the purpose of the forum was to allow potential candidates, and those with an interest in local government, to come to grips with the workings of a council and the roles and responsibilities of being a councillor.
"We live in one of the most sough-after municipalities in Tasmania — the demands from residents, visitors and developers are placing huge pressures on our infrastructure and it is the role of our council to balance all of this," Mr Teniswood said.
"It is an exciting time for Glamorgan Spring Bay and our group encourages people with enthusiasm, foresight and time to seek election."
Mr Teniswood said that Glamorgan Spring Bay voters would, at the October election, be choosing a Council, with a 4 year term, of 8 councillors — down from the current 9 — on an "all out, all in" basis.
"So if you are considering standing for election please come along, or if you know someone that you think would be a good councillor let them know about this forum," he said.
Mr Teniswood said said that the information forum was consistent with the organisation's vision to facilitate a collaborative and optimistic approach to community and economic development enabling the region to respond positively to its future.
The forum is open to interested parties from other municipalities and further information is available from Mr Teniswood on 6257 7583.
