The $30,000 grant to people building or buying new homes was due to finish at the end of the year.
Treasurer Peter Gutwein today said the grant would be reduced to $20,000 and extended to July 1 next year.
It will then be halved to $10,000 with no end date in sight.
``By tapering the grant over time, we will continue to stimulate building activity and create jobs, while also retaining our skilled workforce,'' he said.
About 100 applications a month are received for the grant, Mr Gutwein told reporters.
