A year of fund-raising by the Holwell District Ratepayers Association finished with a Roast ‘n Toast dinner on August 9.
The celebration followed months of angst after it was found the old kitchen did not meet health and safety regulations.
``I am thrilled with the new kitchen facility,'' Association President Jenny Adams said.
``The future of the hall as a central meeting place for our community is assured.''
Association member Vaughan King thanked everyone who had made the upgrades possible.
More than $50,000 was raised, including money from the Tasmanian Community Fund and Australia Post.
``On behalf of HDRA, I sincerely thank the Tasmanian Community Fund Board for generously assisting with renovation of the existing space and installation of a new kitchen,'' he said.
``This enables us to cater for functions, provides a meeting point for groups, and bonds our isolated community together. It should ensure that we can maintain our hall into the future.''
Full details of upcoming events and activities can be found on the Holwell Hall Facebook page.
