Jarrod Troy Goninon, 21, appeared in the Launceston Magistrates Court yesterday.

Goninon and co-accused Luke Jesse Rice, 19, Hayden James Saunders, 20, and Dylan Mitchell Ellings, 19, each pleaded guilty to trespass, eight counts of burglary and eight counts of stealing.

Police prosecutor Kerryne Barwick told the court that the four men drove from Launceston to Devonport on August 10 last year and entered the compound of SRT Logistics in Saleyard Road, Quoiba.

Ms Barwick said the group wanted to steal energy drinks, but found that the shed was locked.

The men then stole a large number of goods from trucks at the site, including first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, mobile phones and car phones.

Ms Barwick said Goninon went inside the rear of a truck, defecated and left his hat behind, which he had used like toilet paper.

Magistrate Reg Marron asked defence solicitor James Oxley why Goninon had left a ‘‘calling card’’ and Mr Oxley replied it was a ‘‘very stupid act’’.

Goninon had been serving two suspended sentences and the prosecution applied for breach of one of them.

He was also sentenced for a series of dishonesty, breach, driving and drug offences.

Mr Marron fined Goninon $1100, activated his suspended sentence and ordered him to serve six months’ jail by way of a drug treatment order.

Rice, who was also dealt with for hooning offences, was fined $1250, and disqualified from driving for nine months.

Mr Marron fined Saunders and Ellings $500 each.
