Fletcher Fulton and Dylan Pearce were among 16 boys born in 2002 selected by the Football Federation of Tasmania to represent the state and country at the Gyeongju International Youth Football Tournament.
A connection between the federation and Korean Youth Football Association was developed last year when the state sent a team to compete in the same tournament.
Head coach for 2014 John Alexiou said the competition was bound to be tough.
‘‘Basically it’s like a mini World Cup,’’ Alexiou said.
‘‘We’re in some of the toughest groups – our first game is against Brazil, then it’s Spain.
‘‘I’m sure we’re going to be competitive.’’
Alexiou said the competition would be great experience for Fletcher and Dylan. The close friends said they looked forward to the opportunity.
The team leaves next Tuesday.
