Last week, former Greens leader Nick McKim told ABC Radio the closure of the facility and subsequent loss of jobs would ultimately benefit Triabunna.
The claims prompted backlash from the state government, with parliamentary secretary Guy Barnett blasting Mr McKim in a press release.
Mr Barnett called the comments "insulting" to residents of Triabunna and labelled the former Greens leader "grossly out of touch".
While Cr Cadart admitted he had not heard Mr McKim's comments on radio, or read Mr Barnett's press release, he stated Mr McKim must have access to "a crystal ball".
"He must have a crystal ball between his ears or between his legs or something," he said.
"How can anyone say what will happen in 10 years?
"One week in politics is a long time, so who knows what will happen in 10 years."
Cr Cadart, a former Liberal Party candidate for Lyons, praised Mr McKim for his boldness, however.
"I'm glad he said that and not me," Cr Cadart said.
"Good on him for making such a forecast."
When asked if he was insulted by Mr McKim's comments, Cr Cadart said it was difficult to comment on what would happen in 10 years.
