In June, the building's futuristic design saw it honoured with a Peter Willmott Award at the 2014 Tasmanian Architecture Awards in Hobart.
Architecture firm Birrelli Art + Design + Architecture was praised for its pro bono work on the building, in the small project architecture category.
The boatshed will now go on to compete for national recognition at the Australian Architecture Awards in November.
Club vice-president Michael Symons said the shed had become a pillar of the community.
"The community is proud of it, it's engendered some community pride in the surf club itself as well," Mr Symons said.
"It's a very unique site."
Mr Symons said the opportunity to have the club featured in a national competition was "gratifying".
"It underpins the fact that we went to the trouble of having an architect involved and it paid off. The club is very pleased and it puts a lot of pride in the place.
"It's absolutely gratifying really."
