Winds are expected to increase again this evening.
A wind warning is out for gusts of up to 100 km an hour. Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Glen Perrin said winds could reach speeds of up to 120 km an hour in thunderstorms.
There is a risk of showers and thunderstorms across the state for the rest of today, however Mr Perrin indicated that the north should not be as affected by thunderstorms tomorrow, as thunderstorm activity moves to the west and south-west.
