Earlier this week, parliamentary secretary Guy Barnett announced $1.5 million for the 2014-15 financial year and another $1.5 million for the year to follow.
A Tassal fish by-product processing facility will also be constructed near Triabunna. Mr Cadart said the news would result in a significant economic shift for Tasmania’s East Coast.
‘‘This is unimaginable,’’ he said.
‘‘It will change the region and Tasmania in all sorts of ways.
‘‘Most importantly this will attract tens of thousand of visitors and people would come from all over the world to play golf as well as rent a house and live on the golf course.’’
Mr Cadart said the plan going forward was to construct more than 600 homes around the course within the next 15 years.
‘‘We needed a reason for people to come here. Even if golf is not your cup of tea, there are plenty of other things to do because of the surroundings. There is wildlife, gardens and it will be a lot more pleasant.’’
Mr Cadart said the council still needed $3 million before the project could be completed.
