Wild weather is lashing parts of the state, including the north, with severe, damaging winds and heavy rainfalls, which has led to the Bureau of Meteorology issued a flood morning.
The bureau issued a severe weather warning at 4.13am this morning for damaging winds for people in the King Island, Furneaux Islands, North-West, central North, the North-East, Western and Central Plateau.

Damaging west to north-west winds about 55 km/h with gusts of 100 km/h are forecast for the King Island, Furneaux Islands, the North-West, central North, North-East and Western forecast districts and parts of the Central Plateau forecast district.
Gusts of 110km/h are possible with thunderstorms. Winds are expected to ease for a period from late morning but damaging gusts are expected to redevelop later.
The State Emergency Service and Tasmania Police advise that people should:
- Supervise children closely
- Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment
- Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings
- Manage pets and livestock
- Be prepared in case of power outages
- Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving
- Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice
There is a flood watch (not a flood warning) for all Northern river basins.
The bureau says that a series of active cold fronts are crossing the state, and will bring moderate to locally heavy rainfall about the West and North over the next several days.
Rainfall totals are expected to be in the range of 20 to 45mm about the North overnight Monday, with additional significant falls likely to occur on today and Wednesday.
Northern catchments are saturated and forecast rainfall is expected to cause stream and river rises and localised flooding during today and Wednesday.
Minor flooding is possible in some rivers from this afternoon onwards and catchment specific warnings will be issued if and when required.
There is also a marine wind warning for Tasmania, issued at 5am this morning until midnight tonight.
