Emergency services were alerted to the fire at Jackman's Bodyworks on Huon Highway at Grove about 7pm last night.
Tasmania Fire Service brigades from Grove, Huonville, Sandfly and Franklin attended.
Upon arrival, fire crews found the office and workshop area fully alight, with fire also threatening nearby parked cars.
LPG cylinders and oxyacetylene equipment, along with a storeroom containing paint and thinners, hampered fire fighting efforts.
The fire was eventually brought under control in 90 minutes and was contained to the main building.
Fire fighters monitored the site overnight and a fire investigation team will inspect the property this morning.
