Okine said the show, Matt Okine - Live, promised audiences a solid hour of fun stand-up.
"The show is an hour of hilariousness," Okine said.
"They'll get to know me a lot better, that's for sure. You get to see a side of me that maybe isn't necessarily radio-friendly.
"I'm really looking forward to just ... smashing Launceston with everything I've got."
Okine described the show as a mash-up of his favourite jokes and stories, combined with a main story about getting arrested after a night on the town. The tour provides an excuse for Okine to visit new places, and revisit some with fond memories. Okine was last in Launceston in 1997 on holiday with his mum. She died six months later.
"I have a very fond spot, soft spot for not just Launceston but Tasmania in general, because it was the last holiday I went on with my mum, so I'm really excited that I've finally got an excuse to come back," he said.
Okine is one half of Triple J breakfast duo Matt and Alex, having replaced Tom Ballard in January. Although struggling with the early starts, Okine said he was enjoying his new job.
"The job is fantastic. I love doing it. Every day that I get to go to work is like a total pleasure," he said. Matt Okine - Live will be held at Fresh on Charles on Friday, August 8. Tickets are $15, and are available now.
