It was one of the first, and now one of the few, sub-regional NRM bodies in Australia.
Operating in partnership with the three municipalities in the Tamar catchment, it serves the community and environment exceedingly well.
In addition to the valuable projects listed by Roger Tyshing, Tamar NRM president (The Examiner, July 17), Tamar NRM each year holds nearly one weekly event attended by a total of 700 people, attracts 100,000 volunteer hours, distributes several thousand copies of its newsletter and importantly has received on average more than $2 million annually in contributions from the community.
It works with rural and urban landholders, local and state government, industry, Landcare, schools and representative groups, to name a few.
Tamar NRM is focused on serving the whole community with real outcomes on the ground.
By any measure, Tamar NRM is a dedicated, enterprising and achieving organisation of which the Tamar region should be very proud and keen to support.
