The celebration, dubbed Experience Deloraine, is being organised by the Meander Valley Dining Experience group for August 30 and 31.
Co-ordinator Laura Window said a two-day market at Deloraine Rotary Pavilion, a photography competition and a dinner dance would be held to bring in the new season.
"Initially it was just going to be the dinner dance with the Deloraine Big Band, but since it's the end of winter we thought `why not do something else as well?'," Mrs Window said.
"It's been a couple of months in organising and we're getting really good support from locals, which is good."
She said the idea for a photography competition came as part of wanting to engage younger people from the area.
The competition will have three age categories, including under 12, 13 to 18 years old and adult, to be judged by professional photographers.
"We've already been asked if we'll run the event again next year," Mrs Window said.
"After the market component, we're going to ask for feedback from stallholders; see what they thought, whether it's worthwhile coming at that time of year."
The market will open from 10am until 3pm at the pavilion on August 30 and 31, the dinner will be held from 8pm at Deloraine Community Complex.
