Brittany was killed after she was hit by a car while crossing the West Tamar Highway in Sidmouth on Friday night.

The popular girl was part of the close-knit West Tamar community near Sidmouth where she lived. 

Yesterday her good friend Jack Hickman organised a tribute in her memory at his home at Clarence Point.

About 30 young people attended Jack's house to pay their respects to Brittany.

The friends lit candles, placing them in front of a photo board of Brittany and spoke about what she meant to them. 

Jack told The Examiner that the loss of Brittany was devastating to the group of Exeter High School students.

``We all needed each other and we wanted to show we cared about Brit,'' the 15-year-old said on why he gathered the group.

``She was a loving and caring person who cared about her friends and was just there for everyone.''

Sharni Purcell also attended yesterday's ceremony.  

``She didn't deserve this, she's going to be greatly missed and all those precious memories with her will be in our hearts.''

One of the group Shania Price said Brittany had a ``gorgeous personality that was infectious to others''.

Police a preparing a report on the death for the coroner.
