MELBOURNE hip-hop man REMI describes his second album Raw X Infinity as a "real" offering.
It is an album made up of issues "discussed in the studio", such as racial issues, drug abuse and personal attacks within the music industry.
"We are very much lucky we're not in a situation like American hip-hop artists, who are pretty much dealing with a `war' every day, because they have to be careful about whether they're going to get shot or not," REMI told X-static.
"But for us (in Australia) there's a lot of real life on this album, and there's a lot of things here that should be addressed from the hip-hop world.
"A brilliant song can tell a story, but a hip-hop song can tell the whole story about what's going on.
"I do feel like every hip- hop artist should make one song that can help contribute to the community."
REMI and his band will bring the sounds of the album to Hobart as part of his tour, a show that will be very personal for him.
With his mother being born in Hobart and having other family members in the state, REMI has spent plenty of time in this neck of the woods.
"It is hard to say how it will be, but it is a show that I really want to be like a (traditional) hip-hop show," he said.
"Our aim is to bring the music to everyone and involve everyone, so I guess you could say it is a real energy party.
"It's more like just hanging out with a bunch of homies, playing hip-hop and making everybody bounce."
