SASKWATCH'S development as a group can be easily measured by listening to their debut album Leave It All Behind and their most recent offering Nose Dive, which was released earlier this year.
"Our first album was just a combination of our formative first couple of years of getting the band together and going from busking to writing our songs and playing our own gigs," the group's Liam McGorry told X-static.
"With the new album I feel like we took that experience and were able to go off and make something a bit more fully formed.
"This album is more well- rounded in many ways, especially emotionally.
"This period [when an album is released] is kind of scary personally, because no one really likes to be judged.
"But it can also be exciting at the same time, particularly because everyone was proud of it and happy for it to be out there, so in a way there's not too much worry about how it is perceived.
"To be honest, it has been easier this time, as it was the second time round and we knew what to expect."
McGorry said the nine-piece soul outfit had pretty much started working on the album as soon as the last one was released, and it was inspired a lot by their adventures overseas and within this country as they were touring Leave It All Behind.
"Half the fun is not knowing which direction you're going to go in, but then pursuing it," he said.
Saskwatch added Hobart to its tour schedule very late, but don't think the state is a complete afterthought, as they were desperate to play down here with this album.
McGorry described their on- stage performance as being one full of energy.
"We play soul-influenced sort of music and we really enjoy playing together," McGorry said.
"The main reason we call ourselves soul is that we all grew up listening to that sort of music, but we do touch on different types of music, and this album has taken on a few more influences.
"And I hope we are thought of as being more than just one genre and people enjoy us as a band and not a style of music."
