Portia Cottingham, 12, and Melissa McQuestion, both West Launceston Primary pupils, donated blankets, pet beds, pet food and toys to the shelter yesterday.
The girls decided to donate the goods to keep the animals happy and to earn their pet badge at the Guides.
``We want to help the cats, dogs and all the animals,'' Portia said.
Many items had been donated by the girls themselves and others were from family members.
RSPCA Launceston animal care centre manager Lorraine Hamilton said it was great to see children taking the initiative to donate to the non-profit centre.
``We really need all the support we can get, because we don't get any government funding,'' Ms Hamilton said.
``It's great to see these girls doing this.''
