Special libraries play a crucial role in supporting the organisations they serve by employing library and information professionals to deliver robust, evidence-based information as the basis for policy and decision-making.
Earlier this year, the Australian Library and Information Association, in conjunction with the Australian Law Library Association, Health Libraries Inc and Health Libraries Australia, released a study which suggests the return on investment for government and other special libraries is more than $5 for every $1 invested.
It is also pleasing to see that Treasurer Peter Gutwein values the role that libraries play and is standing by his pre-election promise that no libraries would close under a Liberal state government.
