Smithton High School, Scottsdale High School, Huonville and Dover District high school in partnership, and St Helens and St Marys high schools together, will receive extra resources to roll out extra subjects.
Greens MHA Nick McKim, who was Education Minister under the previous government, immediately asked Mr Rockliff to confirm that each of those schools already offers Year 11 subjects.
Mr Rockliff did not answer the question.
"This is positive news,'' he said.
The six schools were chosen out of 10 that applied to extend.
The successful schools will receive up to five extra full time teachers over four years to support the extension to Year 12.
The Liberal government has promised that 21 extra regional and rural schools will be supported to offer Year 11 and 12 in their first term.
