The 32-year-old defender adds another accolade to an already distinguished career when he runs out onto Windsor Park on Sunday for his 254th senior game, eclipsing the club record held by Paul ``Country'' Ellis. 

``I'm pretty excited and it's a fairly big achievement in the history of the club,'' Green said.

``It's definitely a big honour - it's a proud club with a great history and I'm pretty privileged to have been able to play 16 years for the club.'' 

Green started with the Blues straight from Riverside High School and made his senior debut as a 17-year-old in 1999.

He has remained a loyal and decorated servant whose outstanding achievements include,  being a four-time premiership player (2006-08, 2011), dual best and fairest winner (2002, 07), club captain (2007-09) and life member.

A model of consistency over his 16 seasons, the only blemish came after a ruptured ACL tendon required a full knee reconstruction causing him to miss the 2009 season.

``Launceston is my home away from home really and is where all my friends are and best mates,'' Green said.

``The whole club is a great bunch of people, including all the volunteer and helpers, and the teammates I've played with and I've loved every minute of it.''

Green said the Blues were in a similar position now to 2003-04 when they went through a rebuilding phase.

``It keeps me going seeing the young guys coming through - they're keen and eager to learn and they push you.

``But it is good to see them develop and hopefully my experience and leadership can rub off on them a bit and help them progress their careers as footballers.''

He would like to continue playing while his body holds up but will make an assessment at the end of the year with his wife expecting their first child. 

``Beau is considered as one of the greatest clubman in the history of the Launceston Football Club, being a leader both on and off the field,'' club general manager Darrin Geard said.

``We congratulate him on this milestone, and would like to see as many of his former teammates at Sunday's game to honour him and celebrate this significant achievement.''
