A speed-dating interview event was held at Cataract on Paterson yesterday and saw more than 20 employers interview more than 20 people with a disability.
WISE Launceston business manager Mandy de Ruyter said the WISE Employment event was aimed at making it easier and less time intensive for local business owners to find potential candidates for full-time and part-time work.
Each candidate had selected a range of industries they were interested in working in and undertook at least 10 interviews at the event relating to their interests.
Ms de Ruyter said each interview went for three minutes and employers were able to ask four questions.
``There's a lot of buzz and interest,'' she said.
``The success that I see here is that people are getting practice at being interviewed and employers are meeting new people.''
Job candidate Joey Ramirez said the event was very exciting and was a great opportunity for him to seek employment.
``I'm an open-minded person so I'm willing to do anything,'' Mr Ramirez, who has an orthopaedic impairment, said.
Country Club Tasmania human resources manager Melita Cornell said the initiative was a fantastic way to bring people together and that it was a great networking opportunity.
