The Tasmania Fire Service attended the fire at Coopers Road Ellendale just before 3am.
Nobody was home at the time and no injuries were caused by the blaze.
The single occupant was located at a friend's home.
Brigades from Ellendale, Bushy Park and Westerway attended the scene.
Meanwhile, the fire service attended Ravenswood just before 11am to fetch a kitten from a palm tree in Wildor Crescent.
A spokesman said the fire service did not typically engage in these jobs but the feline had been stuck in the tree for a considerable length of time.
