Tasmania Police and the Tasmania Fire Service will today investigate the cause of two separate fires at George Town overnight.

Just after midnight, the fire service was called to a car fire in William Street.
When they arrived, they found two vehicles parked side-by-side in a carport. They were able to extinguish the fire, however the carport sheds and contents were destroyed.
Damage is estimated in the vicinity of $20,000
At 12.30am while still at the William Street car blaze, the fire service and police were called to a house fire on Main Road.
On arrival, smoke could be seen billowing from the property. The fire was quickly extinguished.
Police say that the property was an unoccupied rental.
No one was injured as a result of both fires.
