The town's annual Tasmanian Trout Expo will celebrate its 10th anniversary in September.
The expo's milestone event couldn't have fallen at a better time, as the state this year celebrates 150 years since the introduction of brown trout to Tasmanian waters.
Although lines may not have been in the water, Tasmanian Trout Expo president Richard Goss and a handful of the town's junior anglers gathered at Brumbys Creek to discuss this year's event.
The expo will be open for the public on Saturday and Sunday, September 20 and 21, with a schools' competition to be held on Monday, September 23.
Mr Goss said this year's format, as well as many of its prizes and activities, would be kept the same as last year.
``It's a big occasion this year, it's the 10th anniversary of the event,'' he said.
``To have that and to keep it going for so many years, as well as the great input from the community and our sponsors, has been really good.''
Mr Goss said big crowds were again expected for the expo, and that he was predicting yet another rise in popularity with its schools competition.
``Last year we had more participants than ever before, we had a really great day,'' he said.
``Schools just flock to our event, they love coming along _ they've already been making contact with us.''
