The Bicheno Community Development Association is behind a push to redevelop the focal piece of public land that separates the Tasman Highway, Foster Street and Burgess Street.

President Gary Price said the association commissioned architect James Birrell to undertake a conceptual landscape architectural study of the triangle.

The plans include changes to parking in Foster Street, a tourist anchor that doubles as a playground-lookout, seating, picnic tables, natural amphitheatre and barbecue facilities.

Mr Price said the reasons behind the proposed redevelopment are to better reflect the community's needs, history and to provide a usable public open space.

"People were invited to comment and the plans remain on display for the whole of April," Mr Price said.

"The BCDA have been looking at the triangle for some considerable time ... and it (the triangle) isn't sufficiently attractive to cause people to slow down and stop.

"So we are hoping to get this visual impact so people want to slow down and explore.

"We want to make it more user friendly and more in keeping with the central theme of the village."

The redevelopment will also create safer pedestrian circulation between the main commercial area and the triangle.

Mr Price said once public feedback had been considered, Mr Birrell would finalise plans before they are handed to the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council to co-ordinate the project.
