Mr Alford has become no stranger to the dotted lines of outback roads as he travels the country's edge on a modified Hustler Super Z lawnmower.
He has so far travelled from Perth, Western Australia, to Kalgoorlie in 2012, from Kalgoorlie to Adelaide in 2013, and will venture from Adelaide to Sydney - via Tasmania - next month.
The adventure has so far raised $120,000 for EJ Whitten Foundation, Australian Rotary Health and Rotary Foundation - End Polio Now.
His hopes are to reach Sydney's Rotary convention on June 1, to end his journey though Melbourne, Hobart and Canberra.
Mr Alford said he hoped his project would raise $1 million for the charities during a six- year stretch.
He will ride through Perth, Tasmania, on his way to Oatlands next month.
"I originally wanted to do it on a pushbike, because I cycle as well," Mr Alford said.
"That was the original idea, but I was over in America in 2010 and saw someone had done a similar (ride-on lawnmower) event over there and rode about 4000 kilometres across part of the country."
On May 17 Mr Alford will travel from Deloraine, and through the Northern Midlands, on his way to Oatlands.
"The special thing on this day is that we are all from Perth, Western Australia, passing through Perth, Tasmania."
