Little thought is given to the number of people who, on reaching the age of 60, can't get a job no matter how hard they try.
Like when the shut down of the Mitsubishi Motor Plant in South Australia occurred in 2008.
A third of all those workers who were retrenched still don't have work and another third can only get part-time work (another term for the working poor).
Such workers will go onto the Newstart allowance instead of the age pension.
How about those who have worked physically most of their lives?
Will their bodies stand up to it for another three years plus the two years added by the former Labor government?
One assumes that they will fall back to accessing their superannuation earlier and when that runs out they can apply for their age pension entitlement.
