Adam Maxwell Cox, 34, of West Launceston, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of assault and one count of aggravated assault.
Mr Cox was due in court today on a number of minor drug matters.
His lawyer Adrian Hall said he believed Mr Cox was the occupant of a home that caught fire last night. He said Mr Cox had been seen on the nightly news ``sitting outside his home which was on fire''.
The prosecution did not press for an arrest warrant and Magistrate Simon Brown adjourned the drug matters until May 6.
Police said the house fire was accidental and they would not be investigating it.
