AFL deputy chief executive Gillon McLachlan was in Hobart today to announce a new structure of governance of the game in Tasmania.
AFL Tasmania's board has been disbanded with chief executive officer Scott Wade now reporting directly to AFL headquarters.
Mr McLachlan said he supported a ''single team representing Tasmania'', but could not say what form that would take.
He confirmed Tasmania would be next in line to get its own AFL team, but said it was at least 10 years away.
He also did not want to get drawn into the rivalry between the North and South.
'It can't work without all of Tasmania behind it.''
