THE development application for the Rotary Club of Scottsdale's proposed rail trail from Tonganah to Snake Track - a few kilometres from Legerwood - has passed without having to be debated by councillors.

The development was advertised last month, with potential opponents given two weeks to advise the council of their concerns.
The proposal did not attract any representations and was passed courtesy of town planner Rohan Willis's delegated authority.
Rotary Rail Trail Committee chairman Robin Thompson said that the decision was good news for the region.
"The council didn't ask for any additional information - we covered all the relevant points in our development application," Mr Thompson said.
"There has been some opposition to the extension of the Rail Trail from Snake Track to Legerwood from adjacent landholders, but the current development application is only for the section from Tonganah to Snake Track.
"Even concerns about potential problems along the Snake Track to the Legerwood section are unfounded.
"Some of the problems cited include provision of extra entrances to properties, leading to theft, vandalism, dumping of rubbish, sabotage and destruction of livestock.
"These are commonly espoused fears wherever a rail trail has been proposed in Australia and New Zealand, but history has proven them all to be totally unfounded."
Mr Thompson said that there had been a lot of positive support for the proposed development on the Rotary club's Facebook page.
