The Tasmanian Working Sheepdog Association's Lance Clifford said this weekend would include two full days of trials and chopping at the Pyengana Showground.
"Competitors from all over Tasmania will be there, some of the best sheepdogs in Australia," Mr Clifford said.
"We'll have Malcolm Taylor, he's represented Australia eight or nine times, he'll be competing, as well as Bernard McGlashan - both have captained the Australian team at some time."
As well as boasting national sheepdog champions, Mr Clifford said the state's top axemen - such as Pyengana's own Joe Rattray - would also provide a spectacle for onlookers.
"It's a good outing for people," he said.
"Some of the best wood choppers in Tasmania live out this way - we've got the Rattrays and Michael Tucker from St Helens, it's fairly strong.
"There'll be lunch, morning tea and barbecues by the ladies and helpers, there's not many drinkers among the sheepdogs, but the axemen like to have a few beers - it'll all be catered for on the day."For more details, call Mr Clifford on 63736149.
