Hopefully it's the sound of 3000 happy dogs participating in this year's Million Paws Walk, says RSPCA state operations manager Lorraine Hamilton.
The RSPCA major fund-raiser will be held in five locations around the state on May 18.
``We're urging people to register now and start fund-raising,'' Ms Hamilton said.
``People can compete with friends and you also get an early bird rate for registrations before April 18.''
She said Launceston's event was typically the biggest walk _ events will also be held at Stanley, St Helens, Ulverstone and Hobart.
This year's fund-raising target for the state is $25,000, while 250,000 dogs are expected to walk nationally.
Ms Hamilton said money raised at the Launceston event would be given to the Launceston animal care shelter.
``We desperately need the money,'' Ms Hamilton said.
