The three-piece act has embarked on a regional tour of the state, equipped with a handful of instruments and a stockpile of weird and wonderful toe- tapping renditions.

Backing vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Ray Bassett last week promised a few cracking yarns for those game enough to lend an ear at its Lake Leake Inn show this Friday.

"A lot of Tasmanians know something about the state - but there's always something they don't know," Bassett said.

"There's still a lot of die-hard people in Launceston that consider Melbourne to be a northern suburb."

Although they may be Victorian-based, Bassett said he and frontman Glendi Blazely originally hailed from Tasmania.

He said the decision to tour non-metropolitan areas came from their passion for places such as the state's West Coast.

"Honestly, I don't know what we'd do if we got famous," Bassett said.

"Part of me wants stuff to be recognised, but through that we'd lose a lot of what we have now.

"We get to play in some quite far-out places and we've made a lot of friends off the beaten track."
