Commissioner Darren Hine announced this afternoon that work has begun on the allocation of the additional resources, including to frontline police, a serious and organised crime capability and public order response.
Mr Hine said numbers will receive a boost in May when the current course of 19 will graduate, bringing Tasmania Police numbers to 1121.
Another recruit course is scheduled for July and Mr Hine said planning was underway for a second course starting this year.
The commitment to increase the state's police force was made by the Liberals during the recent election campaign.
