Ms Fenton loves Phantom of the Opera .
So it was only fitting her now fiance popped the question in front of a packed house on Thursday evening, on the stage where they fell in love and during Encore Theatre Company's version of her favourite musical.
``When Encore announced they were doing Phantom of the Opera, that's when I decided I was going to ask her,'' Mr Ennis, 24, said.
``I had my plan set and I was ready to go.''
Ms Fenton, 21, said she had no idea what was going on despite most of the cast and their families knowing well in advance.
She said when he started singing the first verse of Jason Derulo's Will You Marry Me? she soon knew what was coming.
``I thought, `oh s---`, '' she said.
``We already had the wedding date planned for next January so we were getting married no matter what.''
The couple have been dating since 2011 and have performed many times on stage together.
Mr Ennis plays the police chief and Ms Fenton is a dancer in Phantom of the Opera on show at the Launceston theatre.
