The Australian Bureau of Statistics' retail trade report shows Tasmanian spending jumped 1.3 per cent in trend terms in January.
Nationally, retail trade rose 1.2 per cent in seasonally adjusted terms in January, 0.7 per cent in trend terms.
However, all the figures weren't good for Tasmania. Exports fell to $236 million in January, down from $287 million in December.
Imports increased to $66 million in January, up from $54 million in December, the ABS said.
