Summer's end but fire danger high

SUMMER ends today with a partly cloudy forecast in the central North and daytime temperatures expected to reach the low to mid-20s.

Overnight temperatures should fall to between 5 and 10 degrees.

However, the fire danger rating will be high.

The highest temperature in Launceston recorded by the Bureau of Meteorology this month was 32.8 degrees, with the lowest 6.4 degrees.

The first few days of autumn look dry, with a sunny forecast tomorrow and maximum temperatures set to reach the low to mid-20s.

Sunday's outlook is cloudy, with daytime temperatures expected to reach the low to mid-20s.

Similar maximum temperatures are forecast for Monday, which is expected to be partly cloudy.
