POlice were called to the incident on St Helens Point Road at Stieglitz just after 5pm yesterday.

POlice allege that the man was struck to the head and rendered unconscious during an altercation between two men.

Ambulance officers attended the scene. The man's condition deteriorated and he was taken to Hobart by Air Ambulance.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to the Launceston Police Station, where he was later charged to appear in the Magistrate's Court today at 11.30am.
