Jeremy was first elected to the Tasmanian Parliament in 2002 and elected as Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party in 2006. He has held a diverse range of Shadow Ministerial portfolios. Jeremy is currently Shadow Minister for Health, Primary Industries & Water and Workplace Relations.

Jeremy’s farming background has enabled him to understand the challenges of rural life and the importance of regional Tasmania to the broader economy.
Jeremy believes that everyone should be able to have access to quality health care, education and career opportunities and that the delivery of effective social and community services is dependent on a strong economy where wealth can flow from Tasmania’s key competitive strengths in agriculture, aquaculture & fishing, mining, forestry, tourism and energy.
Through Jeremy’s association with numerous community service organisations, he has been able to understand and focus on the real issues of concern that personally affect a diverse range of people.
Jeremy’s passion for improved mental health services resulted from his experience as a Lifeline telephone counsellor and in 2006 he was awarded Life Membership of Lifeline North West Tasmania.
During the last twelve years Jeremy has strongly represented Braddon and Tasmania with a constructive commonsense approach and has achieved many positive results.
Jeremy is married to Sandra and has three daughters Ruby, Lucy and Holly.
