State Government in caretaker mode

Premier Lara Giddings has left Government House after signing the government into caretaker mode ahead of the March 15 election.

On her way out a short time ago, Ms Giddings declared Labor could ''absolutely'' win the election.

She said she was looking forward to what will be a hard-fought election campaign.

For the remaining 31 days until Tasmanians go to the polls, the Premier must consult alternative premier Will Hodgman on any important decisions.
